Born in Guadalajara, Mexico and graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara with a degree in computer science. He lived in the United States for eleven years in San Diego and Denver, where he worked as a GIS software developer. Juan and his family moved to Todos Santos in 2001, and opened Los Adobes restaurant with his long-time friend Erik Castellanos. He opened Baja Abode Construction Company in 2003, and has built over ten homes in the area.

Is a business and finance graduate from Universidad Panamericana in Guadalajara, Mexico, and received his MBA in Lund, Sweden at the University of Lund. After completing his studies in Sweden, he returned to Mexico where he was the purchasing manager in a construction company in Guadalajara and Mexico City. Seeking a change in lifestyle for him and his family, he Moved to Todos Santos, B.C.S. where he worked for a real estate company and co-opened two local restaurants, Fonda El Zaguan and Los Adobes de Todos Santos. Having lived in Todos Santos for the past eight years, he is very involved in the growth and development of the area.
